grrr.

a local bank takes 3 weeks to process my application for credit card and a foreign bank takes only a weekend (effectively 1.5 days). totally disappointed in my local bank, after being a customer for so long naturally i would have just taken my own bank's credit card but it has really let me down. collecting my credit card from the foreign bank tomorrow, they could have mailed it to me but I chose to collect it.
